Based on the principle of "pooling the respective strengths of both sides；sharing resources; developing in a coordinated way; achieving win-win cooperation", the People’s Government of Qinghai and Beijing Normal University jointly established the Academy of Plateau Science and Sustainability (hereinafter referred to as the "Academy"), which was officially established in Beijing on October 26, 2018 and affiliated with Qinghai Normal University.
　　In the past three years since the establishment of the Academy, we have established 56 scientific research teams with the fundamental purpose of "gathering talents and intelligence to serve the development of plateau" and the main functions of "talent highland, high-end think tank and scientific research platform", focusing on nine research fields such as "plateau education, plateau history and culture, plateau geography and environment, plateau biology, plateau health, plateau disaster prevention and mitigation, plateau atmosphere and hydrology, plateau economy and plateau energy and resources" to carry out scientific research and cultivate talents, and have made many achievements.
　　First, it deepens the brand of plateau science and expands the influence of academic exchange. The Academy has successfully held three consecutive "High-level Forum on Plateau Science and Sustainable Development", building an important platform for the dissemination of ideas, exchange of thoughts, interaction among the government, industry, academia and research, and international research cooperation for the sustainable development of the Tibetan Plateau region from a global perspective.
　　Second, it creates a highland of talents and promotes the output of scientific research. In the past three years, the research teams have published 527 scientific papers, including 177 SCI papers, 37 EI papers, 52 CSCD papers, 43 CSSCI papers and 32  PKU papers. Twelve provincial and ministerial level research projects have been approved, 53 patents have been declared, and 45 academic books have been published.
　　Third, it focuses on strategic hotspots and promotes regional scientific research development. We always attach importance to the construction of ecological civilization, double carbon, the construction of "four destinations", Qinghai-Tibet scientific research, and constantly promote the scientific research and innovation work in the province. We have been deeply involved in the national second comprehensive scientific research on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and construction strategies of "ecologically advanced province", "one excellent and two high quality" and "four destinations".
　　Fourth, it plays the role of think tank to help high-quality development. Having organized a team of experts to research and write professional consulting reports, we have submitted more than 20 professional consulting reports to national ministries and commissions and provincial government leaders. We received important instructions from leaders in the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Emergency Management and provincial government, therefore expanding the academic influence and enhancing the ability to serve society.
　　Fifth, it enhances collaborative innovation and cooperative relationships. We have established strategic cooperation with 36 domestic first-class research institutes, universities included in the "double world-class project " , provincial government departments and state-owned enterprises to further expand the team of governing units of the academy board, thus enlarging the circle of friends and introducing high-quality resources for future development.

It is believed that in the future development, the Academy will provide high-quality scientific research and innovative drive and intellectual support for the rapid development of science and technology innovation in Qinghai Province, the plateau scientific research and sustainable development of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau，China and even the world. We hope that we can make contributions to the local and national economic and social development in the new era！
